A Legacy of Conservation
“A natural site at the heart of a natural heritage.” This motto, passed down by our founding shareholders, has always guided our approach. We distinguish between protection—which focuses on isolated areas—and preservation, a subtle interplay between protection, cultural outreach, and scientific engagement. Preservation defines places that are remarkable from both a natural and a humanistic perspective.
Since the cave was discovered, management has placed a high priority on environmental stewardship. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, we are committed to complying with legal requirements and continuously improving our social, economic, and environmental performance.
The first site in France to receive the “Sustainable Entertainment” certification
In March 2020, the Clamouse Cave became the first site to receive the “Sustainable Entertainment: Responsible Experiences” certification among the ten pilot sites that helped create the certification program. This recognition was renewed at the “Experienced” level, confirming our position as a leader in the sustainable tourism sector.
This certification aims to raise awareness of environmental and social issues within the leisure and culture sector. For us, it represents a step toward improving our CSR processes and embodies the very essence of the cave: offering visitors the chance to experience a natural heritage site while raising public awareness of major environmental issues.
Innovation: A very low-voltage LED project carried out in 2011 that is considered an international benchmark.
An international presence
Following the global impact of our LED project in 2010, the Clamouse Cave was approached by the Furong Cave (China) to share its expertise in the protection of the subterranean environment. Since then, we have been actively participating in an international forum for discussion and exchange on this topic.
The Clamouse Cave is now internationally recognized as a model site for the protection of the subterranean environment.

Our commitment is reflected in:
- Measures to preserve natural underground and surface habitats
- Raising visitors’ awareness of the flora and fauna found on the site
- A science-based educational program that incorporates environmental issues into the visitor experience
A policy supported by everyone
The involvement of everyone—from executives and managers to all employees—is the key factor in implementing this CSR policy. We have created a position within our team dedicated to this mission for several months, allowing us to gain a fresh perspective on our past, present, and ongoing actions.
Since our strategy is to innovate every year, we view certification as a technical innovation that shapes our sustainable development policy over the long term.
Today, the Clamouse Cave continues to demonstrate that tourism and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand, working together to preserve an exceptional heritage for future generations.
