An illustrated tour

The small white corridor

The small white corridor opens up immediately behind the Medusa.

It is the last gallery in the section open to the public. It contains most types of the concretions already seen during the tour: walls covered with white calcite and aragonite crystals which also fringe the stalactites and stalagmites, great twisted candles, straws, helictites, etc.

It also has a unique formation:
fossilised clay pine trees, indicating that the Small White Corridor used to be under water before the current concretions formed.

At the far end of the Corridor is a very imposing and tall red stalagmitic flow which marks the end of the tour.

An artificial tunnel takes the visitors down and out towards the viewing platform at the reception area.
