The Grotte de Clamouse is soon to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its amazing abundance of aragonite and calcite concretions have made it one of the most popular caves in France.

Internationally renowned for its scientific interest, it is part of a world-class tourist circuit. The mediaeval village of St-Guilhem le Désert, on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route, the place where Willian of Orange took his retreat from the world in 804.

The Pont du Diable and the abbey of St-Guilhem le Désert are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The abbey is one of the most famous Romanesque sites of the Bas Languedoc. It is listed as UNESCO World Heritage site.

The gorge of the Hérault river will invite you to take a dip in its waters, a trip down it in a canoe, or just laze beside it.


In 2000,Clamouse celebrated the new century with the "Out of Time" event by Michel Siffre.

In 2001, Clamouse and the Coteaux du Languedoc invited you to discover the best of our regional vintages.

In 2002, an enjoyable scientific exhibition taught you the geological history of the cave.

A major event this year is the wonderful display CATHEDRAL OF TIME.
The director Christophe Guyard (composer for the European Council) uses light and sound to tell the wonderful tale of the drop of water and time OUT OF MIND !

In 2003, Professor Karstix guides young visitors round the mysterious underground river.
